Lottie Doll Review (and Giveaway!)

We were so excited to be accepted as a Lottie Doll brand ambassador and even more excited when the Pandora’s Box Lottie Doll arrived in the post last week.  Oodles (almost 3) loves to play with dolls and she has not left this little treasure out of her hand since it arrived.  We also have 2 dolls and accessories to giveaway to our readers, more about that below!!!

Pandoras Box Lottie Doll - Review and Amazing Giveaway! Our Little House in the CountryWhat is a Lottie Doll?

If like me, you think that many dolls available are inappropriate both in shape and appearance for young children then Lottie is for you! Lottie first appeared on the market in 2012 as the first ever “pro-girl” doll.  It is designed for girls aged 3 – 9 years with a lot of input from leading academics and educationalists with the aim of promoting positive body image, creative and imaginative play, steering away from the premature and over sexualisation of young girls.Lottie at Our Little House in the Country

Lottie has a “normal” healthy childlike body, does not wear make up or adult clothing and promotes positive role models and characters for young girls.  All accessories and clothing are age appropriate and you will not find any high heals or scanty clothes. She is a beautiful doll, with big eyes and a really friendly face.  And her smaller size (7″/18cm) makes her ideal for little hands and extremely  handy for taking out and about.  A huge plus for us was that her size made her perfect for playing with other toys that Oodles loves, such as her dolls house and car.  In fact Oodles had great fun playing with Lottie and her toy animals – a lovely coincidence considering that the Pandora’s Box Lottie doll is a volunteer at an animal shelter!  Lottie has been integrated into so many games and activities in our home over the past week, including playing with a farm, dolls house, playdough(!!!!) and this morning, Oodles and her dad set up a coffee shop for Lottie and her sister “Peppa Pig” to visit.

Lottie at Our Little House in the Country 2The Doll: (Pandora’s Box Lottie)

Pandora’s Box Lottie helps teach children about the care and nurture of animals.  The doll is based around a backstory that Lottie has volunteered at an animal shelter where a Persian cat is found left in a cardboard box, and Lottie is given responsibility to care for her.Pandoras Box Lottie Doll - Review and Amazing Giveaway! As I already mentioned I think her smaller, neater size is perfect for younger children to handle and play with and easily fits into backpacks and even winter coat pockets!!!!  Personally I love the clothes that the Pandora’s Box Lottie arrives in.  They are so like what my little girl wears on a typical day – stripy leggings, a little pinafore dress, boots, a jacket and hat, plus a very cute pair of glasses that can be easily removed.  She is an easy doll to dress and the clothes are easily removed with velcro fastenings so no tricky buttons to deal with.  As O is only almost 3 she found her a little tricky to dress but older girls would have no issues at all.  The clothes are colourful, realistic and well made.  She has lovely long straight silky brown hair with a fringe, perfect for little girls who love to comb and braid hair and her limbs move easily and can be seated etc.  One of the things I love about Lottie is that she can stand upright – or on her own two feet!  In my opinion Lottie is a well made and designed, quality product and would without hesitation recommend her to friend!  While we received a complimentary doll for the purposes of this review, I feel that the retail price of £16.99, with accessory sets for £7.99 is a fair and reasonable price for this toy.

We absolutely love our Lottie doll and I suspect with a birthday and Christmas coming up that there will be requests from our little lady for more Lottie dolls and accessories.  We give it a fantastic 10/10 and highly recommend it as a great positive, non gender stereotypical toy – promoting positive body image, creative imaginative play, encouraging and empowering girls to be adventurous and resourceful and as the Lottie motto says “Be Bold, Be Brave, Be You”.

Have fun!
