Gingerbread People –A Must Do Christmas Activity!
Gingerbread Men cookie decorating kit – perfect activity for a stormy/wintery afternoon!
If you’re a regular visitor to Our Little House in the Country then you’ll already know that I love to make things but I’m not a huge fan of baking. I love to cook but baking has never been my thing except for the occasional birthday or Christmas cake. Every year at this time I vow to make a ginger bread house and gingerbread men but I rarely get around to it. So this year I just admitted to myself that the chances of me actually making either from scratch were pretty slim to nil and so I gave in and bought 2 kits – a gingerbread village kit and gingerbread men cookie decorating kit! At least this way we will actually make both!
I picked up this little kit at our local supermarket for only €2.99 with the intention of putting it away for another couple of weeks but as we were stuck in the middle of a severe weather alert – torrential rain and flooding – this afternoon seemed as good a time as any to have some gingerbread fun!
The kit was so easy to use. It contained two really good sized ginger bread men, an icing tube and lots of little sweets. I was a little worried that the kids may not be able to manage the icing tube but I needn’t have been concerned they were more than capable of using it. I did my best to encourage them to be creative with their designs but they were absolutely determined to copy the two cookies shown on the box! I must they did a really great job and they really enjoyed doing it too. So much so that I may actually try and make some of our own. Of course as soon as they were finished they wanted to get started on the village kit but that is definitely being kept until Christmas week – perhaps for the day they get their Christmas holidays as a special treat to celebrate 2 weeks off school!
By the way the cookies were absolutely delicious and way too big to eat in one sitting!
Have lots of festive fun!
