Gentle July: 31 Simple Summer Moments to Savour the Season

There is something lovely about July.

Not the beginning-of-summer excitement of June.

Not the golden, reflective feeling that August often brings.

July sits right in the middle.

The heart of summer.

The month of long evenings, open windows, garden dinners, beach walks, books left open beside sun loungers and cups of tea enjoyed outdoors.

And yet, somehow, it can also become surprisingly busy.

We fill the calendar.

We make plans.

We try to fit everything in before summer disappears.

Before we know it, the weeks are gone and we’re left wondering where the season went.

That is exactly why I created this year’s Gentle July calendar.

Not as another challenge.

Not as another to-do list.

And certainly not as something else to complete.

Instead, it is a collection of thirty-one simple invitations to slow down, notice the season around you and make space for the moments that often matter most.

Why Gentle July?

Over the years I’ve realised that the summer memories I treasure most are rarely the big planned events.

They’re usually much simpler.

A cup of tea in the garden.

A family meal outdoors.

Watching clouds drift across a blue sky.

Picking strawberries.

Reading a book in the sunshine.

A conversation that lasts longer than expected.

A walk taken simply because the evening is beautiful.

These are the moments that quietly become part of the story of a summer.

And yet they’re often the first things we overlook when life feels busy.

Gentle July is a reminder to pause and notice them.

What’s Included?

This free printable includes:

🌿 A beautifully illustrated Gentle July calendar featuring 31 simple daily prompts

🌿 A companion reflection sheet designed to help you slow down and think about what matters most this season

The prompts are intentionally simple.

There is nothing complicated to organise.

Nothing expensive to buy.

Nothing you can fall behind on.

Just small invitations to enjoy summer exactly as it is.

Some focus on nature.

Some encourage connection.

Some celebrate seasonal food.

Others invite reflection, creativity and memory keeping.

You can follow the calendar day by day, dip in and out whenever you like, or simply use it as inspiration throughout the month.

A Few Favourite Prompts

Some of my favourites this year include:

☀️ Enjoy your tea or coffee in the garden

☀️ Watch the clouds drift by

☀️ Share a family meal without distractions

☀️ Create a simple summer memory

☀️ Wander around a village, market or local town

☀️ Watch the sunset and spend a few moments appreciating the season

They are all wonderfully ordinary.

And perhaps that is exactly the point.

The Reflection Sheet

Alongside the calendar you’ll also find a Gentle July Reflection Page.

This has become one of my favourite additions to these monthly printables.

It includes prompts such as:

  • What are you most looking forward to this month?
  • What simple pleasures bring you the most joy in summer?
  • What memories would you love to make this July?
  • What are you letting go of to make space for more joy and freedom?

These questions aren’t designed to be answered perfectly.

They simply offer a quiet moment to pause and check in with yourself.

My Own Hope for July

This year, I’m trying not to rush through summer.

Not to fill every day.

Not to optimise every moment.

Just to notice what is already here.

The flowers in the garden.

The sound of birdsong early in the morning.

Family dinners outdoors.

Books waiting to be read.

Conversations that don’t need to end quickly.

The simple things.

The gentle things.

The things that often become the memories we treasure most.

If that sounds like the kind of summer you’re hoping for too, I hope you’ll enjoy this month’s calendar.
