Mindful May: 31 Gentle Ways to Slow Down and Come Back to Yourself
There’s something about May that always feels like a quiet turning point.
The light lingers a little longer.
The mornings soften.
The world, almost without asking, begins to open up again.
And yet… life doesn’t always slow down with it.
There can still be a sense of rushing.
Of trying to keep up.
Of moving from one thing to the next without ever quite landing in the moment.
I’ve felt that myself recently.
That quiet drift away from the slower, more intentional way of living that I know feels best — replaced, bit by bit, with busyness, distraction, and the gentle hum of what’s next?
A Gentle Return
I first created a Mindful May calendar last year.
And while the intention behind it was always there, this year it feels different.
More needed.
More personal.
More… real.
After taking a little step back over the past few weeks, I’ve been reminded of something I think we all forget from time to time:
This way of living doesn’t happen by accident.
It’s not something we arrive at and stay in.
It’s something we practice.
And sometimes, we simply need a gentle way back in.
An Invitation, Not a Challenge
This isn’t a challenge.
It’s not something to complete or perfect or keep up with.
It’s simply an invitation.
A collection of small, gentle prompts you can dip into throughout the month —
moments you can weave into your days when they feel right.
Some will take a few minutes.
Some might stay with you a little longer.
And some you might skip entirely.
That’s the whole point.
There is no perfect way to do this.
Just your way.

How to Use This (Without Overthinking It)
You don’t need to follow this day by day.
You don’t need to “keep up.”
Instead, you might:
- choose one prompt that speaks to you
- revisit the same one more than once
- or simply use it as a reminder to pause
Let it support you — not pressure you.
What This Month Might Look Like
It might look like:
- a quiet cup of tea before anyone else wakes
- a short walk with no destination
- putting your phone down for a while
- opening a window and letting fresh air in
- sitting in the garden and doing… nothing
It might look very ordinary.
And that’s where the magic is.
A Gentle Reminder
You don’t need to do all of this.
You don’t need to do any of it perfectly.
Even one small moment of presence in your day is enough.
Because this isn’t about creating a perfect month…
It’s about noticing your life as you’re already living it.
And maybe — just maybe —
finding your way back to it, one small moment at a time.
So wherever you are this May…
Whether you’re feeling calm and grounded, or a little overwhelmed and out of sync…
I hope this meets you there.
Softly. Gently. Without expectation.
Just a quiet reminder:
You can always come back.
If you’ve been following along lately, you’ll know this is something I’ve been navigating myself — learning how to come back to a slower, more intentional rhythm again. I’ll be sharing more of that here and over on Instagram throughout the month.
