20 Signs You’re Truly an Autumn Person

Some people live for summer. Others count the days until spring. But you? You’re an autumn person. You know it in your bones — in the way your heart leaps at the sight of a golden leaf or the smell of cinnamon in the air. If you nod along to most of these, then welcome to the cosy club. Here are 20 signs you’re truly an autumn person.

1. You get excited when the leaves start to change.

You can’t resist snapping photos of trees as they turn golden, red, and bronze. Your camera roll is basically a love letter to autumn.

2. Pumpkin spice lattes (or any spiced drink) make you ridiculously happy.

You might not drink them year-round, but in autumn? They feel like an essential seasonal ritual.

3. You light candles the second the evenings get darker.

Scented or unscented, it doesn’t matter. A cosy glow is non-negotiable.

4. You have a “to be read” pile that mysteriously grows every September.

Autumn and reading just belong together — under blankets, with tea, and a book that feels like an old friend.

5. Chunky knitwear is your favourite outfit.

Scarves, cardigans, jumpers… you’re basically building a wardrobe of hugs.

6. You love apple season.

Apple tarts, apple picking, hot cider — if it involves apples, you’re in.

7. Rainy days don’t bother you.

In fact, you secretly love them. Especially when you’re indoors with tea, cake, and the sound of rain at the window.

8. You decorate for autumn as much as (or more than) Christmas.

Mini pumpkins on the mantelpiece, a wreath on the door, maybe even fairy lights — you go all out.

9. Gilmore Girls is your ultimate autumn comfort show.

Bonus points if you rewatch it every year once September rolls around.

10. Soup season is your favourite season.

Nothing makes you happier than a steaming bowl of soup with bread for dipping.

11. You collect conkers, acorns, or pretty leaves on walks.

Your pockets are full of seasonal “treasures.”

12. You get excited for earlier evenings.

It’s not “the nights are drawing in,” it’s “finally, cosy nights at home.”

13. Firepits and bonfires are your idea of a perfect night.

Add marshmallows and you’re in heaven.

14. You’ve made (or plan to make) a seasonal bucket list.

Because there are too many little joys to risk forgetting.

15. Harvest festivals or farmers’ markets are your happy place.

Seasonal produce, crafts, and community spirit — autumn at its best.

16. You plan your weekends around walks.

Misty mornings, crunchy leaves, hedgerows full of berries — walking is your love language with autumn.

17. You secretly love journaling more in autumn.

Something about the season makes you more reflective, more intentional.

18. You think autumn food is the best food.

Crumble, stew, roast dinners, cinnamon anything — enough said.

19. You always say “autumn is my favourite season” (and mean it).

Even if you say it every year.

20. Home feels like the cosiest place in the world.

At the end of the day, autumn is less about what you do and more about how you feel — grounded, comforted, and full of gratitude for the little things.

So, how many of these sounded like you? If it’s more than half, congratulations — you’re officially an autumn person. Now pass this along to the other autumn lovers in your life, because we all know the joy of finding someone who gets just as excited about conkers, cosy socks, and early sunsets as we do.

Throughout the autumn season I will be sharing lots of autumnal inspiration over on Instagram and Pinterest if either of those platforms are your thing. If not there is lots of further autumn content here on the blog if you take a look under the “Seasonal Inspiration” category in the main menu!
