Simple Outdoor Fun and Games – My Country Kids at Play!
The Country Kids Link Up over on the fantastic Blog and Website Coombe Mill (thanks for the reminder tweet and shout out on twitter on Friday, Fiona) is one of my favourite link ups as it is specifically for sharing outdoor family fun, something I am pretty passionate about. Usually, I link up one of my posts from during the week about some outdoor activity we have done or somewhere we have visited as a family that is suitable for the family fun outdoors theme. This week, however, I decided to put together a post specifically for the link up which will also form a lovely keepsake for Doodles and Oodles of all the fun they have had together in our garden over the past week just being children!
Doodles and Oodles absolutely love playing outside. O in particular would be outdoors 24/7 is she was allowed and has often popped her wellies on over her jammies and bounced outside for one last play on the swings before bedtime!

The “baby” cows as Oodles calls them – there are several young calves in the field and they are so curious and come straight over to the fence when D and O go out to visit!

Showing the cows how to blow dandelion clocks – this is a major favourite at the moment since we taught them how to blow them a few weeks ago!

Minnie, the cat, follows D and O on all of their adventures. She loves to taunt the cows and they love to chase her across the fields – very funny to watch!

Doodles and Oodles are very competitive when it comes to swinging – “I can swing higher than yoooooooouuuuuuu!

Now that Oodles is getting older , D and O are playing much better together, here is big bro pushing little sis on the swing (yes she is in her pjs!)

While D was at preschool the other morning O requested to take her easel outside so that she could “paint in the sunshine!”

Any chance they get, D and O will play with water! They have me plagued to take out the paddling pool every time the sun shines – waaaaaaaay too cold yet! The next best thing is watering their bulbs, seedling and patio pots (this is their “job” as well as making their beds).

While watering the plants they managed to create lots of puddles giving Oodles a chance to be Peppa Pig and jump in muddy puddles!

You may have seen in a previous post about outdoor construction play that we have been cutting back all of the hedges, shrubs and trees and there was a huge amount of cuttings to be cleared. D and O had great fun helping daddy and grandad clearing the debris!
What child doesn’t love to be out and about, enjoying the fresh air. They are itching to get out as I write this! So, I’m off to see what other adventures they will have in our garden this afternoon!
Thanks for reading and if you have a post about great, family fun why not link up with Country Kids at Coombe Mill!
So true! No matter what the weather (better if sunny) they always enjoy being outside to experience the world around them =) #countrykids

Exactly! The only type of weather that puts my 2 off is wind, they love to play in the rain! Thanks so much for taking the time to comment again 🙂

I know, I wish I was small enough to ride around in a wheelbarrow still 🙂

I can see that D and O have had some great fun and adventures outdoors this week, they are such great company for each other. Love the photo of them playing with the hose and having a ride in the wheelbarrow. Thanks for linking up and sharing.

There is great excitement every Spring when the cows return to the fields after the winter! Everyone who visits the house is fascinated by them!

S lives in her jammies. If I never got her dressed she would be perfectly content and it’s usually not worth the fight. 😉 great outside activities!

Thank you! Poor Minnie is persecuted by our youngest who seems to think Minnie should be her playmate all of the time and is convinced that she should eat Rice Krispies! Thanks for visiting 🙂

I love the inspiration of linking up to #CountryKids each week. Just being outside and enjoying the simple outdoor pursuits like watering with a hose and loading the wheelbarrow up is enough. Looks like your two have figured that out.

This is a lovely post x I love #CountryKids as well, for the same reasons, it really gets me outside, even when the weather isn’t great! My lot love being in the garden too, some water, some balls and they’re happy 🙂

I find getting outside even for a few minutes, even if the weather isn’t great can really help improve everyone’s mood and energy! (It’s sooooooo much easier though when the weather is reasonably ok :D)

Looks like they are having lots of fun outside. My daughter is 12 months old and loves being outside on her trike or playing in her water table.

My daughter who is 2 would live in the middle of a field if she was allowed!!! There’s nothing like playing outdoors. The water table is a huge favourite in our house too!
