We finally got around to starting our Easter artwork today. I’m sure that we will manage a few more seasonal projects over the next week or so. Today we have 2 to share with you.
Potato-print Easter Chicks:
These were so much fun to do.. Doodles and Oodles love printing so there was great excitement when I handed them potatoes and Lego/Duplo to print with today.
What do you need?
- Potatoes, cut in half and allowed to dry for a couple of hours
- Lego or Duplo blocks
- Paint
- Paper
Instructions:
- Have fun!
- We used the bricks to create our grass
- Our chicks were made by printing with the potatoes.
- We then painted little orange beaks onto each chick.
- When the paint had dried we drew eyes and little legs onto the chicks using a black marker
- Have fun!

Glittery Easter Eggs:
Once the glitter shakers appeared foe this activity the potatoes and bricks soon lost their appeal!
What do you need?
- Card
- Paint
- Brushes
- Glitter
Instructions:
- Have fun!
- I folded sheets of light card in half so that Doodles (4 ½) could cut out an oval/egg shape.
- Doodles wanted to create a rainbow egg, so he painted lots of stripes. I encouraged him to blend each stripe and it produced a really great effect.
- Oodles wanted to do a spotty egg so she happily blobbed spots of paint all over her egg.
- Doodles then decided to create a zigzag rainbow egg.
- Both had so much fun shaking multicoloured glitter all over their eggs.
- When they were dry, I punched a hole in each and threaded ribbon through them so that we could hang them up.
- D and O also glued pretty Spring ribbons onto their eggs.

It looks like you all had a lot of fun! We made Easter egg sun catchers on the blog this week. I love the idea of the glittery eggs though. I might try that one next 🙂
